We currently have a vacancy for a National New Business Manager reporting directly to the Commercial Director. This role is responsible for growing the customer base and profitable revenue in Transport and Warehouse activities for Moran Logistics. The main aim will be to source and qualify potential customer leads, build strong business relationships and convert potential customers from non-trading status to trading. The role will focus on large customer opportunities as well as SME’s to ensure a balanced portfolio.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: 

  • Targeting new business in the temp-controlled environment and other key sectors across the UK with an important emphasis around the Moran owned operating centres in Castle Donington, Leeds and Manchester plus other bases
  • New Business to include Transport opportunities, Warehouse fulfilment services, and business to ensure Warehouse occupancy is 90% + of capacity
  • Target new business to ensure assets are fully utilised across the fleet 24/7
  • Identify focus channels with line manager to include Fresh, Food & Drink, Pharma, Automotive, Retail, Manufacturing sectors
  • Source, qualify and convert customer leads through various resources – self, digital, reports & publications, portals, elapsed customers, networks and networking, social media
  • Work closely with outbound customer services to support quality lead generation
  • Manage the new business customer pipeline and report customer opportunities and developments with the line manager weekly
  • Work closely with the commercial team and the wider team to support the implementation of new customers into the Moran network from inception to completion
  • With the solutions team build compelling customer propositions and ensure all tenders are completed in a timely and planned manner
  • Understand and communicate new product services Moran can develop working with customers to meet their needs, in particular if the new service can be initiated with a sizeable customer opportunity representing a sound business case
  • Communicate key market learnings and industry developments on an ongoing basis
  • Build a competitor and market intel database to benchmark product offerings and market rates in the industry
  • Support marketing initiatives in line with business requirements as directed by line manager
  • Build strong customer relationships and ensure an excellent contact strategy with major personnel in the industry

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE

 

  • 5 years sales experience including a Logistics environment working in a commercial role
  • Highly computer literate in office applications including word, excel, PowerPoint and outlook
  • The ability to demonstrate excellent customer service and evidence of strong relationships with customers
  • Experience of working with KPIs to drive process improvements
  • Excellent organisation, reporting, diary management and customer follow up attributes
  • Self-starter and highly resilient and persistent with a dynamic hunter mentality
  • Strong influencing and negotiating skills
  • Project management experience
  • Strong process-oriented mentality and an eye for detail
  • Able to prioritise workload and proven ability to deliver on objectives
  • Must be able to be flexible to travel
